A Day Out in Hampstead

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

Looking for something beautiful to do in London that won't cost you a fortune?

Head for a day out exploring Hampstead Heath and Kenwood.

There's plenty of walking, history and amazing views of London .

A great place to start your trip is East Finchley station.

EAST FINCHLEY

East Finchley is an art deco underground station is on the northern line and in zone 3.

Right next to the station is a newly refurbished pub called The Old White Lion. It's a perfect place to grab a drink or some food before starting your walk.

The Old White lion has swanky interior, a conservatory area for all weather dining and a garden. All diets are catered for and they serve Sunday roasts.

There's also plenty of cafes by the station if you want to grab a hot drink and start your adventure.

When you're ready take the first left turn after The Old White Lion, down Bishops Avenue.

THE BISHOPS AVENUE

The Bishops Avenue is nicknamed 'Millionaires Row'.

Property prices on this road start at around £15 million pounds.

When you reach the end of The Bishops Avenue, cross over and head into the car park at Kenwood House.

Kenwood House

Kenwood House is a English Heritage property on Hampstead Heath. You can stroll around the grounds and house and marvel in it's beauty for free. There's also a lovely cafe at the house. The artworks on display inside include pieces by Rembrandt, Gainsborough, Turner and Constable.

Once you've taken in the stunning house, head onto Hampstead Heath

HAMPSTEAD HEATH

There's lots to do and see on the Heath. It's a perfect place to escape and spend a day ambling along away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

PARLIAMENT HILL

Head to the viewing area on the Heath for some incredible views of London.

The swimming ponds on Hampstead Heath are open all year round. There's seperate ponds for women, men and mixed swimming and cost £4.25 a session.

HAMPSTEAD VILLAGE

When you're tired from exploring The Heath head to one of Hampsteads historic pubs. I'd recommend.

A cosy and historic pub near Hampstead undergound station.

Hampstead Village streets are picture perfect and worth exploring themselves. There's plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to also keep you entertained.

I hope you had a wonderful day out in Hampstead.
